PROBABLY DENMARK'S LARGEST NEIGHBOR MURAL

Field's is more than just a shopping center. It is a gathering place for the local community, and at Steen & Strøm we are pleased to contribute to Ørestad's cultural life with this project. This year marks the 20th anniversary of the first inhabitants moving into Ørestad and the opening of Field's. This milestone was celebrated with an inauguration of an outdoor art project, an art exhibition, and a photo competition. On Field's facade, an enormous outdoor mural has been created by artist Peter Skensved, in collaboration with students and inhabitants of Ørestad who contributed with sketches and ideas.

The mural is a tribute to Field’s neighbors and other Copenhageners, as well as to the flora and fauna of Naturpark Amager. Field’s is more than just a shopping center. It is a gathering place for the local community, and at Steen & Strøm we are pleased to contribute to Ørestad’s cultural life with this project.

Since Field’s opened 20 years ago, we have witnessed Ørestad’s remarkable development. We are proud to have been a part of this journey. The neighbor mural is our gift to the local community, created in collaboration with our neighbors and Field’s visitors. Celebrating together with everyone is fantastic, and I look forward to continuing our commitment to creating a vibrant and dynamic district together, says Janek Gram, Center Manager at Field’s.

The mural depicts a couple looking out over Ørestad. It symbolizes love, community, and the sense of possibility one feels when moving to a new place. It is a tribute to the people who live here and to those who dream of becoming part of this unique place where city and nature meet. “It has been wonderful to see the strong interest in bringing more art to Ørestad. It’s amazing to create something that makes so many people happy, says Peter Skensved.
